BARBARA VIEL
Visual Artist
Painting - Engrave / Peinture - Gravure
Barbara Viel was born in Nantes,France in 1971.
After applied arts studies in Paris, she began to travel and chose Mallorca as her base for many years. There she discovered the etching at the Miró Foundation in Palma de Mallorca. And then proceed with it at the BBK in Berlin where she spent a few years. This experience with printmaking greatly influenced her painting. Her solo trips allowed her to exhibit in different countries. She also spent a few years living in Tokyo, Budapest, Paris, Bangkok, Lisbon.
She approaches social themes.
She explores human perception in this uncertain time, hesitating between a bygone past and a future whose outlines are barely visible, lost between apathy or fury, expectations or disillusion.
Above all, she talks about human dignity and denounces the social regression of our century advancing rapidly towards more inequalities. She evokes the conflicts and the migrations which result from it. She points out the effects of the globalization and the climate changes has desertification and the water war that has already begun.
